We asked interior tastemakers to create their own Alternative Flooring Rug or Runner using our fabulous Make Me A Rug bespoke service.
We chose a Sisal Herringbone for our staircases and landings, as we wanted something warm, relatively neutral and hard-wearing. With three kids and two dogs, we didn’t want carpet but still wanted it to bring that element of warmth and comfort into the home.
I've been trying my rug in both my home studio and living room. The great thing about a rug is that it's transferable, from room to room and house to house. I love change and recently moved house, it's refreshing to bring familiar items into a new space and play with them to find a new home.
The room features a densely patterned wallpaper and so we wanted to introduce texture rather than more pattern. The soft coconut tone of this rug was the ideal solution, and the Seal border gives it the perfect crisp finish.
I was instantly drawn to the Quirky B Honeycomb Moss carpet. Its soft olive green and interlocking geometry had exactly the mid-century feel that we needed to add richness and depth to the seating area of our living space.
This rug is for my son's bedroom. So, as a 17-year-old it was bound to be more conservative than I might otherwise have chosen. He likes black and grey - those are the colours he wears so it was logical that was what he would choose for his bedroom. I chose a chunky wool rug as it's a bedroom and I did manage to inject design interest and a little colour with the stripe border.
