Seagrass Runners

Seagrass runners are runner rugs made from natural seagrass fibres that are not only beautiful, but also sustainable. They work well for hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and lounges. Our seagrass runners start their journey on the coastal meadows in Vietnam and China, where the crop is flooded by seawater and hand harvested. There are many varying colour tones from yellow to green, bringing a natural, earthy beauty to the weave.

Seagrass is a naturally absorbent plant fibre which unfortunately makes it susceptible to mildew and mould. That’s why we wouldn’t recommend a seagrass runner in a damp space with fluctuating temperatures such as the bathroom. Don’t forget that water can leave a mark on your seagrass runner! Seagrass is a natural plant fibre and although not quite as soft as jute, it does have the added benefit of being less 'hairy' than sisal, coir or jute as seagrass fibres have very little, to no, shedding. It can be a little harder underfoot than other fibres in our collection, but using an underlay under your runner will help to soften this as well as prolong the life of your seagrass runner.
