Kathy, 1 to 1 Floorings friendly front of house, has worked in the flooring industry for over 29 years and spent the whole time with this amazing family company. Kathy will go the extra mile to welcome you and help you with your beautiful new flooring design. While Richard, their very knowledgeable and experienced store estimator, will visit your home to measure up and offer advice on installation.

We think you're great, but why should local people visit your store?

“We are a family run company with 55 years of experience. Richard and I have a combined knowledge of over 53 years. It is our aim to give the best knowledgeable advice and high level of service to make the experience as good and easy as we can. We listen to our customers and guide them to the right choice for their needs. No matter the request, small or large we are here to help in any way we can.”

What do you love about your local area? Any Quirky Facts?

“Harpenden still has a lovely village feel and is all about the community which we are proud to be a part of. The Name Harpenden comes from the Roman times ‘Herpedene’ which means the military path through the valley. In 1928 the Air Ministry reported ‘the descent of carbonaceous or sooty matter’ was gauged in many places and the lowest deposit occurred in Harpenden advertising its ‘sweetness and salubrity of air.’”

What's the best thing about Alternative Flooring? What's your favourite Alternative product?

“We love Alternative flooring for its out of the box thinking on design and colour, with exceptional quality at a good price.

Our favorite range is the Quirky Fair Isle by Margo Selby. It is quite abstract with the changing patterns but once seen on the stairs the overall effect comes to life.”

Anything else you would like to tell us?

“The vibrant colours and quality of the Alternative Flooring carpets does bring the stand to our customers’ attention and the table makes it very user friendly and a pleasure to show to our very discerning customers.”
