Barretts of Woodbridge are an independent family run business who have been in the heart of the beautiful market town of Woodbridge since 1969. Starting with furniture and beds, Barrett’s of Woodbridge then branched into homeware and gifts, soft furnishings and flooring - showcasing ALL our wonderful products in our latest display format, our eye-catching and easy to use Play Studio. Bring along your paint charts and fabric samples and choose at your leisure.

Customers can be assured of a warm welcome from owner Jill, daughter of Barrett’s founders Jack and Ann. Jill’s vision is for Barretts of Woodbridge is to give the store a new lease of life while retaining its charm. Supported by her daughter Vicky and their dedicated team of Debbie, Michael and Terry in the Carpet Department, Barretts of Woodbridge bring passion, enthusiasm and a wealth of flooring experience. Along with their experienced team of local fitters, they will ensure you are supported throughout your carpet buying journey from start to finish.

We had a quick Q&A with the team at Barretts of Woodbridge to find out a little bit more about them...

We think you're great, but why should local people visit your store?

“As a proud independent local business, we have been helping customers ‘love their home’ for over 55 years, and have become somewhat famous for our bespoke customer service. We do this by offering high quality and stylish home furnishing, and by providing expert interior design advice and guidance.

We offer our own delivery service, so products arrive safely to our customer’s door along with the option to install and fit by experienced professionals.

We believe you should be able to try before you buy, with our free, no obligation approval service. This allows customers to take a product home to co-ordinate colour and size before making a final decision. This is particularly useful for items such as hand-knotted rugs, and we will even deliver a sofa or chair to you before you buy!

We have individual buyers for each department so customers can always feel assured they are able to find that ‘special product’ at the right price for their budget as all buying decisions are made here at store-level.

We want dealing with Barretts to be a pleasant and fulfilling experience, thus helping to support and build a long-term relationship with our customers. It’s also one of the reason we introduced our free Reward Card scheme, whereby a customer earn points when they spend which they can redeem against future purchases at any time. We now have over 5000 Reward Card members.

What do you love about your local area? Any Quirky Facts?

“Woodbridge is an eclectic mix of local shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, sitting on the banks of the beautiful river Deben. The vast majority are independents like Barretts, giving the place a distinctive vibrance and charm. It’s steeped in history, with the famous Anglo Saxon treasure discovered at nearby Sutton Hoo, richly described at the excellent National Trust exhibition centre. Woodbridge has featured in many national paper Top 10 lists, including best towns for foodies, best high street, and even happiest place to live!

Plus the Suffolk Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and popular tourist attraction, is just 8-miles away. “

What's the best thing about Alternative Flooring? What's your favourite Alternative product?

“Alternative Flooring are a joy to work with! Our Area Business Manager, Dan, and the team at Alternative HQ can’t do enough to help, and are very friendly and accessible. The imagery they produce is top-notch - very Social Media friendly. They regularly bring out super new designs and products and they lead the way on flooring fashion.

Our favourite products are the Make Me A Rug service, which is such a great idea and so simple to demonstrate to customers.

Also, the latest Anywhere Ca-rPET collection of look alike Sisal floor coverings is amazing, especially being made from recycled plastic bottles. We’re sure it will be a future hit!”

Anything else you would like to tell us!

“Well Jill has been busy! She has completely renovated the main showroom, installed a window display at Brook Street, updated our website and introduced a modern EPOS system to facilitate our successful Rewards scheme. In addition to this we have installed solar panels to our roof – as we are very conscious of our ‘Green’ credentials here at Barrett’s of Woodbridge – and so far we have saved an astonishing 25,000kg of CO2!”
