John Doe of Diss are an independent family run business who have been in the local area since they were founded by John Doe in 1983. Showcasing ALL our wonderful products in our latest display format, our eye-catching and easy to use Play Studio. Bring along your paint charts and fabric samples and choose at your leisure.

Customers can be assured of a warm welcome from Director Nathan, John Does grandson, along with family members Megan and Charlie, plus the rest of their dedicated team, who will expertly guide and advise you with your new flooring design.

We had a quick Q&A with the team at John Doe of Diss to find out a little bit more about them...

Tell us a little bit more about your fascinating history?

“John Doe first opened his carpet business in February 1983 after 19 years as a carpet representative. After many successful years growing the business alongside his wife Angela, in 2015 John and Angela decided to step down and leave the business in the very capable hands of their two sons, Edward and Charles Doe. Since 2015, the third generation has joined the family business with Charles and Lisa’s children Nathan, Megan and Charlie Doe all taking important roles within the company alongside their parents.

We strongly believe that what sets us apart here at John Doe is our tight-knit team and the service that we give our customers. We are a family company, not just family owned but a family right at our heart. Our company ethos and values reflect that of a family and this comes across in our working environment and ultimately the attentive, premium service that we offer every customer old and new.”

Our 45,000 square foot superstore, partnered with our family heritage and expert team accumulates to create the premium John Doe service that we are known for.”

What do you love about your local area? Any Quirky Facts?

“We love what a tight-knit community Diss is. Since 1983, we’ve built up such strong, long-lasting relationships with not only people but families and other local businesses.

Our favourite feature of the town (other than John Doe of course) is the Mere.”

What's the best thing about Alternative Flooring? What's your favourite Alternative product?

“The Alternative Flooring Play Studio in-store is so bright and eye-catching, customers love it! Also, it’s amazing that you can select any carpet to be made into a rug or runner and there’s a huge selection of binding to choose from!”

Anything else you would like to tell us?

“Did you know that we opened “Angela’s Coffee Lounge” in 2022? Offering a diverse selection of specialty coffee, freshly baked pastries, homemade cakes and delicious brunches and lunches prepared with premium local ingredients. Our coffee lounge is named after Angela Doe, a prominent figurehead and leader within the company since we were founded in 1983, without whom we wouldn't be where we are today. Angela is wife to our founder John Doe, mother to Directors Edward and Charles, grandmother to Managing Director Nathan Doe as well as Megan and Charlie Doe who also undertake important roles within the family business.
